Legend has it that during World War II, the Japanese military amassed a colossal underground cache of bullions valued at 10 trillion yen. This rumoured national treasure – known as the ‘M Fund’ – has never resurfaced. When con-artist Mafune is employed by the mysterious ‘M’ to steal the riches, so begins the unfolding of an international con-game that stretches from the boardrooms and backstreets of Tokyo, New York and Khabarovsk to a dusty village somewhere in Southeast Asia.
