Temel passionately but one-sidedly loves Zuhal, the daughter of the richest family in Trabzon, the Yücesoys.
Being continuously criticized by his father Imam Necati for not being able to find a decent job, Temel, his courage boosted by his friends, tries to ask for Zuhal’s hand from her father Hıdır. Hıdır Yücesoy gets enraged with poor gauche Temel and caustically throws the harsh truth right to his face: “A poor man like you… You think you deserve a rich girl?”
Our romantic and naive protagonist Temel gets devastated as if he heard the truth for the first time, but he gets overambitious.“Hey, all you think about is money!” says he and decides to find a large sum of money.
At the same time, he learns that his buddy Turgay attempted suicide after climbing to the roof of the Sumela Monastery. Temel, getting to the roof of the Sumela Monastery to discourage his friend from committing suicide, sees that he, himself, is in a worse situation than Turgay and decides to commit suicide as well.
After being talked out of suicide, Temel and Turgay are taken to the police station. While listening to the advices of the chief police officer, an idea comes into Temel’s head: There is a treasure in the Sumela Monastery. He thinks he has finally found the source for the money he needs to reach Zuhal.
Now, Temel has only one purpose: he will solve the code of the Sumela just like in the Da Vinci Code, find the “Holy Treasure” and marry Zuhal.
