Co-directed by Pascal Arnold and Jean-Marc Barr, American Translation introduces us to Christophe (Pierre Perrier), a charismatic drifter with a murky past and an uncertain future.
Fleeing from the body of a young woman in the woods, Christophe visits a hotel bar where he meets Aurore (Lizzie Brocheré), a rebellious young French-American girl looking for some excitement. Drawn to each other, they leave and embark upon an intense sexual relationship which knows no boundaries.
Entwined in lust, the lovers move into an up-scale apartment owned by Aurore’s wealthy but frequently absent father (Jean-Marc Barr) where they continue their hedonistic lifestyle. However, events assume a dark edge when Christophe “accidentally” kills a young male prostitute whom they hire for a ménage à trois. Shocked out of her ennui, Aurore is forced to confront her worst fears regarding Christophe’s true identity.
“Provocative and powerful, this is a sharply written and superbly acted movie” -
