Thin Lizzy were the quintessential rock band, and the band’s classic line-up of Phil Lynott, Brian Downey, Scott Gorham and Brian Robertson in full flight was absolutely electric.

As lead singer of Thin Lizzy, Phil Lynott was a songwriter, a poet, a dreamer and with him at its centre they had one of the greatest front men of all time.

Phil Lynott: Songs For While I’m Away is a feature documentary on the life and music of Phil Lynott, telling the story of how a young black boy from working class 1950s Dublin, became Ireland’s greatest Rock Star. Told extensively through the words of Lynott himself and focusing on some of his iconic songs, the film gets to the heart of his story, as a father, a husband, a friend, a son and as a rock icon.
