GCFF - Carmilla
Superb scenery and a haunting soundtrack make this an eerie gothic vampire drama inspired by the novel of the same name. Writer/director Emily Harris sets the story of this gothic drama in England and affords an ambiguity to Carmilla, taken in by a widow and his daughter Lara after a carriage crash. Carmilla rarely eats, sleeps in, dogs avoid her, and her background is a mystery. The mystery deepens when local girls become ill. However, Lara is immediately enchanted by this strange visitor who arouses her curiosity. This atmospheric coming-of-age tale is inspired by the 1872 Gothic vampire novella by Joseph Sheridan Le Fanu.
