Michelle Williams (Blue Valentine) stars as film icon Marilyn Monroe in this drama based on her time making The Prince and the Showgirl, and the week she spent being escorted around Britain by a production assistant while her husband left the country. The Prince and the Showgirl (1956) unites Sir Laurence Olivier (Kenneth Branagh) and Monroe, and also doubles as Monroe’s honeymoon with her new husband, playwright great Arthur Miller (Dougray Scott, Hitman). Working on the movie is lowly assistant, 23-year-old Colin Clark (Eddie Redmayne, The Good Shepherd) to whom Monroe takes a shine. Based on Clark’s two memoirs written many years later, My Week with Marilyn focuses on the idylic week when Miller left England and Clark showed Monroe – desperate to get away from the her hangers-on and the pressures of Hollywood – the pleasures of the English countryside.
